Rooted Vermont, the newest entry into the field of gravel endurance events in Vermont, takes place August 4, 2019, and will offer two route: an 85-mile long ride and the shorter 45-mile option. The event is organized by Ted and Laura King, and will begin in their home town of Richmond. Both routes will end at Cochran’s ski area. Some of the proceeds of the event will be donated to Cochran ski area to help build trails aimed at getting kids on mountain bikes.
Following a “mullet protocol,” the race start puts business in the front and party in the back. In other words, riders vying for top honors should line up at the front, while riders who are racing their own best time or simply taking it easy should seed themselves accordingly. There will be prizes, but there will not be a prize purse.
